Elsa Cape Pattern

Hi
Thank you for your interest in the Elsa Cape!
This is how I went about it.
Or I will make it for you for $54.
E-Mail me at heidirsmith@hotmail.com
It was a whip up 6 in 1 evening kind of a pattern!

Make it better!  Let me know how you did!

OK:
I used fabric from JoAnn's.
Tae picked the one she felt looked most like Elsa's.

2 yrd.  (the fabric we choose was finished along the bottom!!! BONUS)
This fabric was $9.99
I had some blue cotton fabric that I cut approx.  24" x 2 ½" (Cut 2)
Sew the 2 strips right sides together leaving a 12" ish opening in the middle of long side.
Turn and iron.
This makes the collar.
I bought the broach thing at JoAnn's also.
They were 40% off at the time around $4.

I Used the entire piece of fabric.  All 2 yrd for the older girls.
If you need to turn under the fabric you choose, do that now.
Turn under and sew all 3 sides.

I put the collar end of the cape fabric into the opening of the collar.
Pinned the right side into the far right side of the opening and the left side into the far left side of the opening.
Then eyeballed the middle of the cape fabric and pinned it into the middle of the collar opening.
Then eyeballed the middle of the left and right side and pinned them in.
(So I only had 5 pieces of the cape edge pinned into the collar.)
The rest draped to make a nice back.
Sew across the collar opening to secure the cape at the 5 spots.
I liked how the entire edge was not gathered in….AND THIS WAS WAY EASIER!
I sewed the collar together at the front and sewed or hot glued the beautiful magical crystal snow flake on.  We were going to velcro the front closure, but this was faster.
I added a finger loop a little longer than the child's arm length down so they could hold the cape out and whip it around easily.  (cut hair elastic).
For the little girls I only used 1 yard of fabric.  They were all out of the finished edge fabric, so I did a turn under hem all the way around the 3 sides.  The baby Biv (Olivia)  Loved hers….I was kind of surprised.  She was even singing Let it go……  :))  Stella's was REALLY long!
The ones with the pre-finished bottom edge and 2 yds of fabric were definitely prettier!  I used the width of the fabric for the length and 1 yard for the width of the cape for the little ones.
2 yds gathered in the collar for the older ones.
I am sure there are 100 better, nicer ways to go about this…..but this is how I did it!
ENJOY!  Message me on Facebook if you have any questions.

As you can see the little girls with just 1 yds of fabric did not work as well.
The fabric I used for them did not flow well either.  A little stiffer.

DID I MENTION I HAVE GLITTER EVERYWHERE!!!!!  THE FABRICS HAVE A GLITTER FINISH.

I made a similar cape for Adi for her Ireland representation at the Miss Starlit Pageant last year.
I HEART HER!

Books I have read lately:

Glass Castle:
This is a true story told by the person it is about.  I watched her on Oprah.  Her parents are homeless and she lives on Park Ave.  But they choose that life.  Her Dad always talks about building a glass castle.  He has now passed, and she has taken her mother and moved to a ranch somewhere.  Her mother had means but choose to live in poverty.  Interesting story.

Shanghai Girls:
Loved this story about 2 sisters in Shanghai.  Really good.  Love, Life, Loss.

A Stolen Life:
The Jace Duggard Story.  Told by Jace.  WOW!  Sick and Wrong!  She endured!

Fireproof:
A story about fixing a broken marriage.  Short and Good!

Then Came You:
This story tells both sides of conceiving for another family, giving eggs, receiving a child.  Very good.  Does not work out as planned.

Hunger Games: (Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mocking Jay)
Really good story about challenges in a ring, competition to the death, alliances, love, loss.

Chelsea Handler:
Funny, Entertaining.  Bad Language

Seriously I am Kidding ( Ellen Degenerous)
Good Book.  She is funny.  Clean, No bad language.

Anything J R Ward writes!
She is a NOT SO CLEAN writer.  Bad language, Sex, Violence.  They are not for the faint of heart!
Great story's though.
There are the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series.
Then the Fallen Angels Series.  ALL GOOD!
Not for Kids OR Adults for that matter!  LOL

The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo:
This is a good series.  A lot of people really love them.  I thought they were good, but a little boring for me.

The Shack:
I don't know!  This is a true story about a man whose daughter was kidnapped.  He lived angry for many years, then God and Jesus came and spent the weekend with him.  Kind of disrespectful to me.  It portrays God and Jesus as just regular people cooking and cleaning for this man.  My friend loved the story and the concept.  ?  Not for me ?

The Room:
This story is told by a little boy.  His mother was kidnapped and kept in a room.  This little boy was never outside until he was like 5ish.  It is fiction.  But pretty good.

One Day:
Did not really get into this!  It has been made into a movie so does that mean it was good?  Maybe I missed something.  Dragged on, and then Nothing!

Memoirs of a Giasha:
Loved the Book!

Go ask Alice:
This book was so sad.  The story of a girl who gets addicted to drugs.  It is her Story.
I am glad I read it, but it was disturbing!

Bossy Pants:  (Tina Fey)
Good,  Funny.  She really makes fun of herself.  I enjoyed it!  LOL

Chasing Perfect:
This was a good Romance.  I Liked It.

The Guardian:
Good Story!  Good Book.

Now you see her:  (James Patterson)
This was REALLY REALLY good.  It is a murder mystery, with a little romance thrown in.

Days of Grace:
It was a pretty good story.  A older woman alone....A pregnant girl alone.....They help each other.

Running with Scissors:
PSYCHO Mom.  Kid lives mostly with crazy therapist.
It is sad that so many children do not have "normal" childhoods!

Miles to go:  This was a good book.  People enduring severe losses and trudging on.  Inspirational.  We are all here to help each other through this world.  Help others.

I will add to this as I remember things.

Maisy

Her favorite place is the Cabin.
 Maisy:
I had been wanting a golden doodle forever.
I was having a bad day(tipped over a cake)!
I was drained and had to stop at Wal-mart.
They were selling puppies on the sidewalk.
Mind you I had been looking at $4000. puppies.
They were asking $175.  I called Jentry and said:
"I am having a week moment, you better come to
walmart fast and stop me".  So she did.  She and Tae
also loved the puppies.  Needless to say........
These pics are all of Maisy!
She has grown in LEAPS AND BOUNDS!
She is the sweetest, smartest dog we have
ever had!
She shakes, sits, plays with the kids
and would NEVER growl or snap at
anyone!
She was potty trained from the get go!
ALTHOUGH>>>>>our lawn and
our neighbors are NOT loving her!
She is WAY friendly and wants to
be outside with the kids.
She is a great dog!
At halloween she was just
a few months old.
Now she is 1.
